Story should we be writing it? Some of you are finding it hard to begin from the end of #0 should we help you out?

give both groups a headsup. I can think of people that love to draw but do need to have a plot to go from, whereas others just can run with a basic idea.

At first thought I voted no but after more consideration think that it depends on what you as the competition would do if the story was voted to go too far in a direction you didn't want it to go eg; gory, violent.
The main reason I originally voted no was that would stifle creativity and you have a heap of pages draw pretty much the same I we as artists worked from a script. But if you as a competition were to write the script and letter the winning page of each month after it was chosen by us you could at least lead the story in a certain direction pertaining to how you want the final product viewed either gory and bloody like a "Darkness" comic or something tamer.
i know on the first page you see Shell with her arm blown off but its more a distance shot and is the level that you want to keep it at or go further?

I think so ... that way the artists know and feel like they are working from a script or plot... and they can feel what it is to be in the business as well.

I guess it depends on whom you're trying to attract to the competition.
If it's primarily artists then I'd say yeah, write it. Not that artists don't have the ability to contribute to the narrative of the story. I think that was my issue with the cover contest. there wasn't a story so I had no idea how to really sum up the character or situation. So basically it was another pin-up of the character.
If you're trying to encourage writers - and ultimately to have community members from production groups (writers, pencilers, inkers, etc...), then no, don't write it. But you may run into a situation where the writers may feel a lack of ownership of their work. Artists are working with a property that's pretty well established, your charaters. Whereas the writing of new material creates a grey area with rights and such. Just look at the crap Marvel had with Liefeld over Cable and Deadpool. Any 'new' or 'original' characters or properties that a writer attempts to contribute to the contest would presumably be owned by you guys, and that may be unattractive to writers.
It's an interesting situation. Maybe having an alternative script is a good way to go... or at least a basic outline, leaving writers the ability to embellish dialog and stuff?
Just my two cents. I intend to write myself, and not try to get hung up on any rights issues. I think ultimately this is going to be fun and could give some exposure to my work. Which I think is the point, right?
